I cherish my friendship with you; therefore, I wanted you to know as soon as possible about my condition.
My new journey began about a month ago when I was unusually breathless between shifts in an adult hockey game. I thought old age had suddenly and dramatically descended upon me! Turns out that my hemoglobin levels were plummeting because of internal bleeding. It is a very good thing I went to the doctor because I had plans to go to Israel this week!
For the past week, I have been in the hospital with internal bleeding; the doctors have determined through a series of tests that I have B cell lymphoma. I will begin a series of rigorous chemotherapies this week which combined with immunotherapy will last between four to eight months. I received a second opinion which confirmed the diagnosis and treatment plan. Great progress has been made in recent years in the treatment of this type of lymphoma. There is a four in five chance I can be cured, but of course, the entire matter is in God's hands.
My ministry will continue and time and energy permitting I will keep you informed as I have in the past. Regarding my new journey through the therapies and back to health, if you would like you can receive updates on my progress and write comments through my CaringBridge Website http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/danmcnerney. You will need to only register your email address with CaringBridge. Thankfully, my family and I are doing relatively well; we are surrounded by lots of great friends and our wider family members. We cherish your prayers as we turn our attention to the Lord's healing power and plans for the future.
We love you!
